National Nutrition Month!

National Nutrition Month 2023 Blog Post

National Month is a campaign initiated by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics 50 years ago. It is aimed to help inform and teach about healthful eating, food choices and physical activity.

This year’s theme “fuel for the future” aims to promote foods that nourish us at all ages and protect the environment while doing so. Here are some ways to join the celebration all month long!

Eat with the environment in mind by including more plants in your meals and snacks, buy foods with less packaging, purchase foods that are in season, and maybe grow food in a pot or in your backyard!

Talk to an RD (Registered Dietician), you have access to an RD at all CMC WIC sites. An RD can help teach how our nutrient needs may change as we grow, and personalize nutritional or health goals!

Plan your meals and snacks, to help your save money and stay nourished. Use a grocery list and see what foods you already have at home. Look into community resources like SNAP, food banks, and WIC if you aren't already participating!

Eat different foods from all food groups; fruit/vegetables, whole grains, dairy, and protein. Incorporate them into your favorite and traditional foods; whether they are fresh, frozen, canned or dried!

Spread the word and join the celebration! Use the #NATIONALNUTRITIONMONTH hash help spread the word! Or visit National Nutrition Month® (eatright.org) for even more information!
